'No, this sunbather hasn't turned blue with the cold. She's celebrating the 50th birthday of the Smurfs'

'No, this sunbather hasn't turned blue with the cold. She's celebrating the 50th birthday of the Smurfs, the characters created by Belgian artist Peyo and popularised by Hanna-Barbera in the 1980s. Zoe Sinclair and Andrea Blood - two artists known simply as ‘The Girls’ - who grew up in Dorset and met on a foundation course at Bournemouth’s Arts Institute (AIB); marked the milestone with a series of self-portraits taken at a photo-shoot at Studland. Their saucy Smurfette pictures, posed in blue body suits, have gone on show at an exhibition, timed to coincide with the golden anniversary of the little blue creatures, at Beverley Knowles Fine Art in Notting Hill; in London. It ends today.'
